Cookie is our feature dog of the month. She is a sweet playful one year old. She has been waiting for a loving home. She needs a lots of exercise and a yard. She loves people but should be the only female dog. (No Cats). She love to play and swim in her pool. She needs a good home to give her the life she deserves.

She is spayed, chipped and has all her shots.

Is a very sweet 15lb. Male Chihuahua mix. He loves people but he has gain your trust.
He was abandoned at a kill shelter and we got him out just in time.
He likes other dogs and is in need of a good home.

He is neutered, chipped and has all his shots.

Small Treeier Mix

Estelle

Is a very friendly 12lb. female terrier mix. She loves people and is very affectionate.
She gets along with other dogs and loves to go for her walks..
She was deserted at a kill shelter and is in need of a good family.

Frankie was just walking in to the kill shelters at the same time one of the rescuers was in the parking lot and spotted him being brought in. She stopped them and asked way they were bring him in, they said they had him for 7 years and got a new apartment and could no longer keep him. She told them that he would be put down but they didn’t seem to care, so she told them she was with Famous Fido Rescue and asked if she could take him,they said yes and now here he his.

He is a great little Pug. He’s very loveable.
He gets along with other dogs.

Frankie is neutered, chipped and has all his shots.

I’ve heard of events being snowed out and rained out, but this is the first time where I’ve been sunshined out. Last weekend’s rummage sale was not as successful as our sale in June due to excessive heat. Someone donated an outdoor thermometer, which recorded a high of 122 degrees on one of our sunlit tables. Phew! I feel hot just thinking about it. Special thanks to Andy and Martha, two of our all star volunteers who braved the heat to help save dogs’ lives!

Did you miss last weekend’s sale because you found a walk-in cooler to camp in? Did this year’s spring cleaning end up being summer cleaning? Then I have great news!

We’re having another rummage sale!

It’ll be the third weekend of August:
Sat. the 20th from 9 am to 7 pm
Sun. the 21st from 10 am to 5 pm

We need volunteers to help us price donations and to help out on either Saturday or Sunday at the sale. If you’re interested in volunteering, comment on this post or email fido@famousfidorescue.com!

We are also accepting donations from now until the day of the sale. We’re looking for quality, gently used or new furniture, collectibles, electronics, toys, apparel, books, DVDs or other home furnishings.

Our theme is the “Dog Days of Summer,” but I hope it’s not as hot as it was last weekend! Also, Baxter, our new rescued poodle, may have found a home! I’ll keep you posted. Stay cool!

Baxter is a 1 year old white poodle. He loves people, loves to play, and wants a loving home. Baxter is neutered, has all his shots, and is microchipped.

Pedro and Pina are two senior chihuhua mixes. They are around 8-9 years old, which is a death sentence at a kill shelter. To top it off, when we took them to the vet, we discovered Pedro was in heart failure. But don’t worry, with a little modern medicine he’ll fully recover! Pedro is currently taking one pill twice each day, and he can safely come home with you today!

Here is a close up of Pina from the day we rescued her from a kill shelter. She’s shy and scared, but was very calm while we took these photos. While Pina and Pedro enjoy each others’ company, they are not a bonded pair and can be adopted out separately. Pedro is neutered and Pina is spayed, and they both have all their shots and are microchipped.

Shoppers found hundreds of bargains at our June Rescue Rummage Sale!

Thank you to everyone who supported last weekend’s rummage sale! We raised a little over $3,500 in two days! Thank you to all of our volunteers, donors, and shoppers! However, we only made it half way to our goal of $6,500, which we need to be able to support our 10 rescued dogs (more on them in our next post) and to launch our line of Famous Fido Rescue Cookies, which will raise money for our organization and raise awareness about the lives of shelter animals.

Last weekend’s sale was such a success that we plan on holding secondhand sales every month from July until October! They will be on the third weekend of every month, namely:

July 16-17
August 20-21
September 17-18
October 15-16 (also our Halloweenfest!)

We are once again accepting donations of quality, slightly used or like-new furniture, home decor, housewares, pet supplies, children’s items, apparel, DVDs, electronics, holiday decorations, and anything else that you don’t want but that others might like! Just drop them off at the Happy Tails Groomery at 5430 N. Clark St, where you can also hear about our latest efforts to make Chicago’s public shelters no-kill!

SNICKERS HAS A HOME!

Snickers and Family!

Snickers finally has a GREAT home – Snickers was adopted last week by the Johnson Familiy, He is so happy in his new home! He has an entire family to love as well as 2 dogs and 2 cats to keep him busy all day with lots to do!Snickers was with us in the shelter for almost a year and we are thrilled that he know has a loving family!

Frankie was brought to us from a kill-shelter, he was a senior and had a back problem so he had many disadvantages against him at first – thanks to the rescue volunteers he was taken before he was euthanized and – now he has a loving forever home!
